SINABI ni Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner George Garcia na hindi maaaring makaboto ang mga indibidwal na positibo sa COVID-19.
Ayon pa kay Garcia, hindi papayagang makalabas mula sa isolation sa Mayo 9 ang sinumang magpositibo sa COVID-19, alinsunod na rin sa pinaiiral na Republic Act 11332, o ang Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases.
Sa ipinaiiral na mga alituntunin ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) ay mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang paggalaw sa labas ng mga taong nagpositibo sa COVID.
Ngunit aniya, papayagan naman ang mga may COVID-19 symptoms at hindi pa kumpirmado na tinamaan ng virus.
“Confirmed COVID patients may not be able to leave their homes or facilities [to cast their votes] because barangays are strict about this. But those with COVID symptoms but not yet confirmed, not isolated and in the polling precincts already, all we can do is allow them to vote,” ayon kay Garcia.
Iginiit din ni Garcia na hindi hihilingin ng Comelec sa mga botante na magsumite ng negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests o antigen tests para lamang makaboto.
