INIHAYAG ni PDP Laban president at Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi na posibleng tumakbo si Pangulong Duterte bilang senador.
Ayon kay Cusi, patuloy nilang kinukumbinsi ang pangulo na ipagpaliban ang pagreretiro nito sa pulitika base na rin sa nana nitong inihayag.
“Now, if the President would not run (for Vice President) because he is firm on his decision not to go back on his word, I said why not run for the Senate so he could bring change there? That will be good for the country,” sabi ni Cusi.
Idinagdag pa ng opisyal na posibleng maging campaign manager din si Duterte nina Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa at Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go sa kanilang pagtakbo bilang president at vice president sa 2022 kung tuluyan na ngang magreretiro na ang pangulo sa pulitika.
