Up to one million anti-coronavirus vaccines will be administered weekly beginning next month as more jabs are expected to arrive in the country, Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.
In his report to President Duterte Monday night, Galvez said the government is eyeing to vaccinate at least 500,000 to one million people every week in the next two months.
Galvez said the government is expecting at least 5.5 million vaccine doses in April and 8.9 million doses in May.
“Sa ngayon po, medyo mabagal po tayo dahil ang ating binabakunahan ay mga health care workers,” Galvez said during the briefing which was aired live.
At least 336,656 medical workers or 18 percent of the total 1.8 million health workers have been vaccinated against the virus as of Saturday or 20 days after the government began the vaccine rollout.
Galvez said at least 400,000 Sinovac vaccine doses donated by the Chinese government will arrive on Wednesday while 979,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses will be delivered between March 24 and 26 2021.
