GOOD NEWS to teachers and personnel of public schools.
Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte became highly instrumental in getting the support of a ride hailing app company so that free motorcycle taxi rides may be provided for public school teachers and personnel in Makati, Taguig, Pateros and Pasay.
The free rides, according to the DepEd Secretary, will initially run from August 22 until September 30, during school days and will be provided for by Move It, which she thanked, thus: “Sa muling pagbubukas ng ating mga paaralan para sa in-person learning, patuloy nating tinutugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng ating mga guro at personnel – at isa na rito ang pagbibigay ng safe, reliable, at free transportation service. Inaasahan namin na maraming public school teachers at DepEd personnel ang makikinabang sa mga ganitong inisyatibo, and we are thankful for Move It’s proactiveness, cooperation, and enduring support sa ating mga guro at manggagagawa sa Department of Education.”
Move It said it also plans to offer DepEd teachers and personnel with promo codes, which they can use to avail of the free rides through its app, as well as offer assistance to school teachers and personnel with their booking needs via booths set up in Makati, Taguig, Pateros and Pasay.
The company expressed full support to the vice president, especially during the resumption of in-person classes, saying its aim is to ease the daily commute challenges of public school teachers and DepEd personnel, allowing them to save more time and money from everyday commuting.
BPLO ISSUES WARNING—The chief of the business permits and licensing office at the Manila City Hall is warning establishments against falling prey to the illegal operation of a man posing as a city hall inspector.
The said man, according to BPLO chief Levi Facundo, makes the rounds of establishments particularly in the Chinatown area while showing off an ID under the name of Albert A. Torres.
According to Facundo, the man would exact money from establishment owners in exchange for not inspecting their businesses.
Facundo says the suspect is the same guy that is currently being hunted down by the Bureau of Fire Protection for using its office for the same kind of extortion activities.
The poser’s photo and details have been forwarded to the various police stations and barangay authorities.
In line with this, Facundo advised establishment owners to immediately report to the nearest police or barangay should they encounter the suspect.
He also said that when such an encounter happens, it would be best to demand for a physical copy of a mission order which usually accompanies inspections.
Additionally, he says that when an inspection needs to be done, the BPLO would normally send out composite teams and not a single person. For everyone’s info.
