A Sangguniang Kabataan chair is under fire after she posted on her social media account that the Christmas food boxes distributed in Manila were food fit for her dog.
This shocking remark may not go unchecked, as some Manila City Councilors are said to be mulling the idea of filing charges against the SK Chair, identified as Khiana Juntilla Pornobi, before the Office of the Ombudsman, for conduct unbecoming of a public official.
The nasty post was first hit by Councilor Roma Robles of the 2nd district of Tondo.
Robles went on to say.
In my own humble opinion, the remark made by the said SK chair is an insult, above all, to the people of Manila who received the Christmas food boxes and who will put them on their table come Christmas Day.
Imagine comparing them to her dog?
Is this how low SK officials have gone? Is this how politicized they have become?
Let me be clear. I do not know or even ever heard of Pornobi. But granting that she is rich, this does not give her the right to look down on those who have less in life.
And if she is doing this for political purposes, just to bash the current officials because she is allied with their rivals, it still is not a justification.
Pornobi is supposed to serve as a role model for other youths to follow and her actions smack of arrogance and ill behavior.
It is highly suspect that she set aside the well-known fact that the city government of Manila is saddled with a huge debt amounting to P17.8 billion left behind by the administration of Isko Moreno.
It is even a wonder that the city was able to provide such Christmas food boxes to not just a few thousands, but a staggering total of 700,000 families.
Aside from her own parents and colleagues, the SK chairman, Juliana Ibay, should take action and at least reprimand Pornobi who, I have learned, has already deactivated her account without offering any apologies at all.
This lack of apology shows Pornobi’s lack of remorse and means she stands by what she had said which, in effect, equates Manila residents to dogs.
If Ibay does nothing about this, it only means one thing– she consents to what Pornobi said and like her, also considers Manila residents as mere dogs.
