HATS off to the men and women of the Manila Police District (MPD), headed by their chief, PBGen. Andre Dizon, for the successful holding of a series of major events in the nation’s capital city in just a matter of one month.
The citizens of Manila owe it to them for keeping the said events and their participants safe, peaceful and orderly.
Note that from December 24, 2022, to January 24, 2023, the MPD secured the holding in the city of Manila of various events related to Christmas and New Year.
Then came the preparations for the Feast of the Black Nazarene and all the activities related to it.
This was followed by the simultaneous holding of activities and processions in Tondo and Pandacan, in celebration of the Feast of the Sto. Nino.
And of course, just recently, the city of Manila was the center of activities for the two-day celebration of the Chinese New Year which was attended by at least 600,000 participants.
In all these events, Mayor Honey Lacuna never failed to thank the MPD and of course, its Director, PBGen. Andre Dizon, for a job well done.
After all, the job of the MPD director is no walk in the park.
Considering that his jurisdiction covers the seat of power and many major government offices day in and day out, having all the said huge events added to his already gargantuan responsibility and being highly successful in keeping the said events generally peaceful shows the kind of stuff PBGen. Dizon is made of.
He leads by example and does unannounced inspections of various police precincts and mobile patrolling in the different parts of Manila usually in the wee hours of the morning.
This is in line with the programs MKK=K and Revitalized PNP KASIMBAYANAN, SUPPORTED BY THE “Safe NCRPO” program.
Dizon is so good at showing his subordinates that he means business when it comes to keeping peace and order.
Surprise inspections that he conducts will expectedly keep the police commanders down to the patrolmen on their toes at all times, knowing that their chief does the rounds at a time when everybody else is asleep.
Guided by the qualities of being “approachable, presentable, dependable,” Gen. Dizon expects policemen, particularly the MPD to continue to be looked up to, as it had been since time immemorial, especially when it comes to public service.
Unlike his predecessors who held the rein when there was a pandemic and therefore did not have to handle such big events, PBGen. Dizon passed the so-called litmus test of competence with flying colors.
He is also fortunate to have a very competent and amiable public information officer in the person of Maj. Philipp Ines.
A ‘game-changer’ makes significant changes. Thus, the tag of ‘The Game-Changer General’ truly befits PBGen. Dizon.
With someone like him at the helm of the MPD which is in charge of keeping the peace and order in the capital city, Manilans can sleep soundly at night.
