TWO men trapped inside a sewer in Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City were rescued by bystanders and authorities amid heavy rain, drawing attention and comments from netizens on social media.
According to news reports, the rescue was captured on video by concerned citizen Jhay Ar Almeniana, who saw the men calling for help while submerged in floodwater inside the sewer.
The incident quickly went viral, with many netizens jokingly referencing the case of “Imburnal Girl,” a viral personality who previously emerged from a drainage canal in Makati and later received aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) later clarified that the men had been contracted to repair a damaged water pipe inside the sewer. However, they were caught off guard by a sudden downpour, which caused water levels to rise quickly and forced them to seek a way out.
