NANINIWALA si Senador Grace Poe na hindi sasapitin ng publiko ang nararanasang kakulangan sa tubig ngayong tag-init kung may maayos na polisiya na ipinatutupad.
Dahil dito nanawagan si Poe sa Water Resources Management Office (WRMO) na tugunan ang water shortage na dinadanasa ng milyong Filipino households, mga negosyo at sila na nasa sektor ng agrikultura.
Ang krisis sa tubig “hounding Filipinos is avoidable if the correct policies are in place and are being implemented,” ayon kay Poe na siya ring chairperson ng Senate committee on public services.
Anya pa ang El Niño ay isang sitwasyon na “predictable” na maaaring paghandaan ng water authorities at mga concessionaires at makapagkasa ng mga contingency measures para maibsan ang mabigat na epekto nito.
“Instead, we are confronted with the same old scenarios during this season of the year — dry taps, parched soil, below normal dam levels, long queues of pails,” ayon kay Poe.
“By this time, we expect the Water Resources Management Office to get its feet wet amid the water shortage being felt by households, businesses and the agriculture sector,” dagdag pa ng senador.
