SINABI ng isang opisyal ng Bureau of Animal Industry na naging matagumpay ang isinagawang field trial para sa bakuna kontra African Swine Fever (ASF). I
Dahil dito, sinabi ni BAI Assistant Director Arlene Vytiaco, na target ng bansa na makapag-angkat ng inisyal na 600,000 doses ng ASF vaccine mula sa Vietnam sakaling aprubahan ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ang certificate of product registration ng AVAC ASF Live.
“We prepared a letter of endorsement to the FDA for the issuance of certificate of product registration, kasi ang vaccine is under the mandate ng FDA. Once ma-issue ng FDA yang certificate of product registration, supplier will be importing na from Vietnam, nandun yung manufacturer natin ng bakuna, pagdating dito, pwede i-commercialize,” sabi ni Vytiaco.
Dagdag pa nito na nagsagawa ng field testing sa anim na babuyan sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Luzon.
“Hundred percent ng nabakunahan ay nag-produce ng antibodies against ASF which means they will be protected from the disease,” sabi ni Vytiaco.
