Romualdez’s Holy week message to public officials: Reflect, serve with sincerity

SPEAKER Martin Romualdez on Sunday urged public officials to take the opportunity this Holy Week to reflect, return to the essence of their public duty, and renew their commitment to serving with sincerity.

In a statement released on Palm Sunday, Romualdez invited Filipinos to contemplate the life, suffering, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, drawing inspiration from His journey.

“His journey reminds us that true strength is found in sacrifice, healing is born of forgiveness, and faith offers hope even in our darkest moments,” he said.

“In Christ’s story, we see our own. We know what it means to struggle, to endure loss, and to keep believing. The Filipino spirit has always risen above hardship—with quiet courage, deep faith, and compassion for others,” he added.

Romualdez emphasized that for those in government, Holy Week serves as a moment to pause and reconnect with the core values of leadership.

“It is a reminder to serve with sincerity, to lead with empathy, and to be more attentive to those who are quietly carrying burdens,” he said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier also called on Filipinos to remain resilient and optimistic amid life’s challenges during the Holy Week.
