NAGKALOOB ang Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) ng P50 milyong pondo sa Bureau of Immigration (BI) para sa pagpapauwi ng mga banyagang manggagawa mula sa mga ilegal na offshore gaming operator o POGO sa bansa.
Nilagdaan ang kasunduan para sa nasabing grant noong Lunes, Hunyo 30, sa PAGCOR Executive Office sa Pasay City.
Ayon sa ahensya, hahatiin ang pondo sa dalawang bahagi na tig-P25 milyon, kung saan ang unang tranche ay pormal nang na-turn over sa BI sa araw ng signing.
Ayon kay PAGCOR Chairman at CEO Alejandro H. Tengco, ilalaan ang pondo sa gastos sa deportation ng mga dayuhang manggagawang kasalukuyang nakakulong sa Warden Facility and Protection Unit ng Immigration.
“These individuals are unable to return to their home countries because they cannot afford a plane ticket,” ani G. Tengco. “This grant will ensure they receive assistance in accordance with international laws and humanitarian considerations.”
Dagdag ni G. Tengco, bahagi ang grant ng patuloy na suporta ng PAGCOR sa paglilinis ng gaming industry at sa pagtitiyak na makatao at ayon sa batas ang mga patakaran.
“PAGCOR has been continuously collaborating with the BI in enforcing the government’s ban on offshore gaming operations, following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive last year,” paliwanag niya.
“This inter-agency effort is not just about sending people home; it also ensures that only legitimate gaming operations are allowed in our country,” dagdag pa ng PAGCOR chief.
Nagpasalamat din si G. Tengco kay Immigration Commissioner Norman Anthony Tansingco para sa patuloy na pakikipagtulungan at suporta ng BI.
“Since I assumed the leadership of PAGCOR, I have always been open to help and collaborate with our partner agencies,” aniya. “We look forward to deepening this collaboration with the BI to help create a safe and progressive place for all Filipinos.”
Sinabi naman ni Tansingco na mahalagang mapabilis ang proseso ng deportation upang mapanatili ang seguridad ng mga komunidad.
“Fast-tracking the deportation cases of illegal POGO workers will help ensure a safer community for Filipinos,” ani Tansingco. “The BI’s partnership with PAGCOR is proof that our national government has the interest of the Filipinos at heart.”
