TINUTULAN ng mga senador ang mungkahi ni Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa na payagang makapagtrbaho ang mga nursing board flunkers upang matugunan ang kakulangan ng mga nurse sa mga pampublikong ospital.
Nanindigan si Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III na hindi “band-aid solution” ang sagot sa kakulangan ng nurses sa bansa.
Anya, mas makabubuti kung gagawa ng paraan ang Department of Health na ma-improve ang salaries and benefits ng mga state health workers.
“The proposal to allow non-board passers to practice nursing and grant them temporary licenses is a short-term solution. The root causes of the shortage lie in the significant number of nurses leaving the country to seek higher-paying jobs abroad,” sabi ni Pimentel.
Maging sina Senador Nancy Binay at JV Ejercito ay tutol sa panukala ni Herbosa.
“We cannot offer genuine health care if there’s a shortage in healthcare workers. If we can only give a salary raise that would be decent enough to sustain their family, they would choose to stay here.”
Ayon naman kay Binay, ang dapat pagtuunan ng DOH ay kung paano iha-hire ang mga nurses na walang trabaho ngayon.
