Marcos reviews LWUA report on PrimeWater amid consumer complaints

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is currently reviewing a comprehensive report of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) on the operations of PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp., following numerous complaints from consumers about the Villar family-owned water concessionaire.

At a Palace press briefing Tuesday, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the LWUA submitted a detailed report, including a folder and two balikbayan boxes of documents outlining PrimeWater’s service performance.

“This will be carefully studied, and the review will be swift to address the concerns of PrimeWater consumers,” Castro said.

She added that the Office of the President is preparing legal measures based on the findings, ensuring actions are lawful and in the public interest.

“We will take legal steps—fair, lawful, and for the people,” Castro emphasized.

PrimeWater, which operates under joint venture agreements with numerous local water districts, has long been the subject of consumer complaints citing poor service quality and water supply disruptions in various areas.

LWUA’s report comes amid growing demands from local government units and consumer advocacy groups for a thorough review of public-private partnerships in water service delivery across the country.
