NAIS ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) na obligahin ang mga driver ng electric bicycle at tricycle na magkaroon ng lisensiya bago sila pahintulutang makapagmaneho ng nasabing mga sasakyan.
Inihain ni LTO head at Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II ang panukala nang makipagpulong ito sa mga representante ng iba’t ibang transport organization at government agencies nitong Huwebes.
“Our proposal is very simple as far as LTO is concerned: All light electric vehicles used in public highways, which means […] any roads funded and maintained by the government whether it’s local government or national government, that vehicle must be registered with LTO,” pahayag ni Mendoza.
“The driver of the vehicle must be licensed, which means to say at least 17 years old [with a] valid license that passes through all the process,” dagdag pa niya.
Iminungkahi ito ni Mendoza matapos maglabas ng resolusyon ang Metro Manila Council na ipagbawal ang mga e-bike at e-trike sa mga pangunahing lansangan.
