NANAWAGAN si Maguindanao at Cotabato City Rep. Bai Dimple Mastura na imbestigahan ang Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) at ang catering services na kinontrata nito na nagsisilbi ng mga pagkain na may baboy kahit sa mga bilanggo na Muslim at 7th Day Adventist.
Sa kanyang privilege speech, kinastigo ni Mastura ang hindi pag respeto ng BuCor at ng AFS Eatery, ang caterer na kinuha ng ahensiya, sa kultura at paniniwalang relihiyon ng mga bilanggo na hindi mga Kristyano.
“This nefarious act committed by AFS Eatery, a caterer hired by the BuCor in making meals for detainees is in violation not only of the food and subsistence agreement signed between BuCor and the catering firm but most importantly the constitutional rights of inmates,” ayon kay Matura.
Binigyang-diin ng kongresista na matinding ipinagbabawal sa mga Muslim at Seventh Day Adventists ang pagkain ng baboy.
“It is clear in the BuCor guidelines that they should be given food in accordance with their religious practice specified as Halal certified products,” ayon pa sa kongresista.
Iginiit din niya na kahit ang mga bilanggo ay may mga karapatan pa rin.
Anya, ang pagpapakain sa mga Muslim ng mga pagkain na hinaluan ng pork ay isang porma ng torture.
“In this situation, inmates are left no choice but to either consume what we consider abominable food or to go hungry,” dagdag pa niya.
