MALACANANG on Thursday night confirmed that former Senator and Batangas Rep. Ralph Recto is replacing Benjamin Diokno as secretary of the Department of Finance.
“Rep. Ralph Recto and Frederick Go are scheduled to take their oath [on Friday] before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as Secretary of Finance and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, respectively,” Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said in a statement.
Earlier on Thursday, Recto’s wife and actress Vilma Santos announced that her husband will take his oath on Friday as the new chief of the finance department.
Santos said Recto was tapped to take on the job because “he’s such a good economist.”
