BROADCAST journalist Jay Ruiz will replace Cesar Chavez as chief of the Presidential Communications Office.
Chavez, who resigned from his post irrevocably, said he would introduce Ruiz to the PCO Management Committee (Mancom) on Feb. 24 to give way for a week-long transition.
“I spoke to Jay Ruiz already. I informed him that I will introduce him to the PCO Management Committee on Monday, Feb. 24, so he can begin a week-long transition. By March 1, he should be ready to take over as the new PCO Secretary,” Chavez said in a message to reporters.
Chavez submitted his irrevocable resignation on February 5, which will take effect on February 28.
Ruiz, a former reporter of ABS-CBN, will serve as the fourth PCO head under the Marcos administration.
Trixie Cruz-Angeles was the first to serve as press secretary. She was succeeded by Cheloy Garafil, who now heads the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, until Sept. 2024.
