NAGBABALA ang Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BAR) at ang Department of Health (DOH) sa pagkain at pagbebenta ng lahat ng uri ng shellfish at alamang sa anim na lugar sa bansa.
Ayon sa bulletin ng DA-BFAR positibo sa red tide o paralytic shellfish poison (PSP) ang mga shellfish sa mga sumusunod na lugar: coastal water ng Milagros, Masbate; coastal water ng Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol; San Pedro Bay sa Samar; Matarinao Bay sa Eastern Samar; Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur; at coastal water ng San Benito aa Surigao del Norte.
“All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the areas shown above are NOT SAFE for human consumption,” anunsyo ng ahensya.
“Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are SAFE for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” dagdag naman nito.
