Shearline and Tropical Depression Querubin will bring widespread rains across Visayas and Mindanao, the weather bureau said Wednesday.
Davao Oriental, still under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, is expected to experience continued rains with gusty winds, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
As of 4 a.m., Querubin was located 230 km east of Davao City or 205 km east of Tagum City, Davao del Norte, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.
Querubin is forecast to cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region. The shearline, meanwhile, will bring similar weather conditions to the Bicol Region and Quezon.
Other parts of the Visayas and Mindanao will also see scattered rains due to Querubin’s trough.
Pagasa warned of heavy to intense rains in Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental. Moderate to heavy rains are also expected in the Bicol Region, Quezon, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte.
Querubin is predicted to weaken into a low-pressure area (LPA) within 24 hours and move across Mindanao, the Sulu Sea, and Palawan from Thursday through Sunday. However, PAGASA noted a chance of re-developing into a tropical depression once it reaches the West Philippine Sea.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will affect the northern, eastern, and western sections of Northern Luzon. Elsewhere, light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas will prevail.
