MORE areas are forecast to experience rains on Friday due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the northeasterly wind flow.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ affecting southern Mindanao would bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Surigao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, the northeasterly wind flow affecting Northern Luzon will cause light rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, and isolated light rains over the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
PAGASA said the easterlies will continue to cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.
Severe thunderstorms could also result in flash floods or landslides.
Northern Luzon will continue to experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
As of 2 a.m., no low-pressure area is expected to develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said. (PNA)
