TWO weather systems will bring moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the country on the last day of 2024.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its 5 a.m. advisory on Tuesday, warned that the provinces of Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte would experience moderate to heavy rainfall (50 – 100 mm) due to the shear line and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
Residents in these areas are warned against localized flooding in low-lying areas and near rivers.
PAGASA said the ITCZ will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Island Region and the provinces of Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Palawan.
Meanwhile, Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao provinces will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms while Quezon province and the rest of Bicol Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
The northeast monsoon will cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region. (PNA)
