THE Philippines may see up to one tropical cyclone entering or forming within its area of responsibility (PAR) this March, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“There may be no storms this month, but it’s also possible that one could develop or enter our area of responsibility,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said on Saturday.
Based on Pagasa’s monthly climatology track, a potential storm could move toward the Visayas-Mindanao region and Palawan. However, there is also a chance it could recurve away from land, Castañeda added.
If a storm does form within PAR, it will be named Auring, the first on Pagasa’s list of tropical cyclone names for the year.
