LPA outside PAR may develop into tropical depression within 24 hours

A low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

As of 2 p.m. Sunday, the LPA was located 2,350 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon (habagat) is affecting Central and Southern Luzon, as well as the western sections of Visayas and Mindanao.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Soccsksargen, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is also influencing weather in the eastern parts of Mindanao, bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms, especially in the Davao Region and Surigao del Sur.

Pagasa warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides caused by moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms across affected areas.
