AT least 30 areas across the country are forecast to experience heat index within the danger level on Friday, the weather bureau said.
The heat index or what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air, could peak at 47°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Aparri, Cagayan, and 45°C in Roxas City, Capiz.
Heat indices ranging from 42°C to 44°C are likely in the following areas:
Laoag City, llocos Norte
Iba, Zambales
Cuyo, Palawan
Virac, Catanduanes
CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
Dumangas, Iloilo
Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur
Bacnotan, La Union
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
Casiguran, Aurora
San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
Aborlan, Palawan
MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte
Baler, Aurora
Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City
Infanta, Quezon
Coron, Palawan
Daet, Camarines Norte
Legazpi City, Albay
Masbate City, Masbate
Mambusao, Capiz
Iloilo City, Iloilo
La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental
Catarman, Northern Samar
Catbalogan, Western Samar
Cotabato City, Maguindanao
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that under danger level or 41°C to 51°C heat indices, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely.
Continued exposure could also cause heat stroke.
PAGASA on Thursday said the heat index peaked at 48°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Aparri, Cagayan.
About 21 areas also experienced heat indices from 42°C to 46°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the country will continue to experience fair weather, with isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will also continue to prevail across the archipelago, PAGASA said. (PNA)
