MOST of the country will experience rain showers on Monday due to three weather systems: shear line, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and northeast monsoon or “amihan”.
The shear line affecting the eastern sections of central and southern Luzon will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, and Aurora.
The same weather conditions will prevail over the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan due to ITCZ affecting Mindanao.
Moderate to heavy rains are forecast over Quezon, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Dinagat Islands.
Flash floods or landslides are possible, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin.
Meanwhile, amihan affecting northern Luzon will cause rains over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, and isolated light rains over Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon.
PAGASA said isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.
As of 2 a.m., no low pressure area is being monitored for possible cyclone formation.
Strong to gale winds and rough to very rough seas will prevail over northern Luzon and the eastern sections of central and southern Luzon.
Moderate to strong winds, moderate to rough coastal waters will prevail over the rest of Luzon.
The Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
