A FUR mom is seeking answers after her cat died at a veterinary clinic where it was brought for what she believed was a routine sedation but was instead given euthanasia.
In a Facebook post on Dec. 5, “Tan Ge Rine” narrated how the procedure meant to help her pet, Gelo, led to its sudden death.
She said she became alarmed only when she asked how long before her cat would wake up and the vet replied, “hindi na po magigising.”
“Napakasakit,” she said.
Euthanasia is an intentional ending of life, permitted for animals only under humane reasons under the Animal Welfare Act (RA 8485). It is illegal and considered a criminal act when performed on humans.
