Fastfood manager slammed for making trainee count tiles at store

A BRANCH manager of a popular fastfood restaurant has come under fire after a video circulated online showing a trainee being instructed to count all the floor tiles in the store as part of what was described as an “inventory training.

In the viral TikTok clip, the trainee is seen crouching on the floor with a flashlight, counting tiles one by one, including those under tables and appliances.

A woman in the background can be heard saying, “Hindi niya ’to malilimutan sa pagku-crew niya. First time mo mag-inventory ha, sige magbilang ka ng tiles.”

The video drew criticism from netizens, with many calling the task unnecessary and “demeaning” and the manager “power tripping.”

Following the backlash, the manager issued a statement asking the public not to blow the situation out of proportion. She explained that the video was unintentionally uploaded by a crew member.

“She accidentally posted it on TikTok without noticing na dapat lang na ise-save niya sa drafts,” the manager said.

She added that she immediately spoke to the trainee afterward to apologize and check on her feelings. “Bago pa kami mag-uwian, in-approach ko agad yung crew to say sorry and to ask if galit ba siya sakin. And pagkauwi ko chinat ko ulit siya to make sure na hindi siya nagalit sa akin,” she said.

The manager also appealed to netizens to understand what she described as the “family and fun” dynamic in fast-food work.

“Manager ako pero iba yung bond namin ng mga crew ko, never ako nag power tripping. Never kong inabuso ang posisyon ko. Galing din ako sa pagiging crew, same branch kung saan ako ngayon nag manager,” she said.

“Please pa-help na hindi na madamay yung store sa issue,” she added.
