STAND-UP comedian Alex Calleja has accepted the public apology of comedy writer Chito Francisco, who earlier accused him of stealing a joke used in the hit Netflix special “Tamang Panahon.”
In a statement, Francisco expressed deep regret over his allegations, acknowledging that Calleja had presented proof that he wrote the joke first.
“I would like to publicly apologize to Alex Calleja, my fellow writer, for accusing him of stealing the car wash joke when, in fact, as he has presented proof and receipts, Alex wrote it ahead of me,” he said.
Francisco admitted that his comments unfairly harmed Calleja’s reputation and led to public backlash.
“I deeply regret what I have done to Alex, considering that my comments created and caused due and undue harm against him. I was careless and negligent, and I did not realize the extent of the hurt and damage I caused,” he said, urging bloggers and netizens to delete posts that spread his false claims.
Calleja shared the apology on social media and responded, “Apology accepted. Now let’s move on!”
