Carlos Yulo advances to floor, vault finals at World Championships

FILIPINO Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo has secured spots in the floor exercise and vault finals at the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships at the Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Jakarta.

Though Yulo will skip the 2025 SEA Games in December, the two-time Olympic gold medalist showed no signs of slowing down as he tallied 14.566 points in his signature floor event — earning 8.666 for execution and 5.900 for difficulty, the second-highest score in the qualification round.

Jake Jarman of Great Britain, the 2024 Paris bronze medalist, led the floor qualifiers with 14.700 points, while Kameron Nelson ranked third with 14.300.

Yulo also dominated the vault qualifiers, emerging as the top performer with 14.750 points, following a 14.900 on his first attempt and 14.600 on his second.

Only the top eight gymnasts per apparatus will advance to the finals, scheduled for Friday (floor) and Saturday (vault).

The 25-year-old Yulo continues to be one of the Philippines’ brightest athletic hopes, consistently proving his world-class form on the international stage.
