COMEDIAN-host Vice Ganda shared how a visit to Heart Evangelista’s province turned into an act of charity after seeing the poor condition of a local school.
In the October 24 episode of It’s Showtime, Vice recalled how he decided to help the community after a contestant mentioned her struggles in sending her children to school.
“May pinuntahan akong lugar doon sa probinsiya nina Heart Evangelista, na isang paaralan na walang reading materials. Pinagawa ko ‘yong eskwelahan,” Vice said.
“Nagpadala ako ng tulong do’n kasi walang reading materials. Bulok ‘yong paaralan do’n sa lugar nina Heart Evangelista. I cried so much when I saw that school,” the host added.
The Unkabogable Star also appealed for better school facilities across the country to help parents support their children’s education.
His remarks came amid reports that out of 1,700 classroom projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) this year, only 22 have been completed so far, according to DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon during a recent Senate budget hearing.
