‘Sana gumaling ako’: Lolit Solis’ final post before her passing

“SANA gumaling ako agad at maging active uli.”

These were among the final words posted by veteran showbiz columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis, before she passed away on July 3, 2025. She was 78.

Solis, known to many in the entertainment industry as “Manay Lolit,” opened up in her last Instagram entry about her hospital confinement and the emotional toll of illness. “Ang hirap pala ng maysakit. Hopeless, helpless, weak ka… I feel sad, weak, but hopeful,” she wrote.

Her family confirmed her passing through close friend and fellow columnist Gorgy Rula, who posted the announcement on Facebook Thursday morning.

“Our beloved Manay Lolit Solis has peacefully joined her Creator last July 3, 2025. She leaves behind a loving family and many friends who will always cherish her memory. Rest well now in the loving embrace of our Lord,” the post read.

An influential figure in showbiz circles for decades, Solis built her career with hard-hitting columns, candid commentary, and a long list of celebrity talents under her care. She was also a staple on television, co-hosting popular entertainment programs like Startalk and CelebriTV.

Among the first to pay tribute was Cavite 1st District Rep. Jolo Revilla, who once called Solis his manager and second mother.

“Rest in peace, Nanay Lolit. Salamat sa lahat ng pagmamahal at pagsuporta mo sa aming buong pamilya lalo na kay papa,” he said. “Lubos po kaming nagdadalamhati sa iyong pagkawala. We will miss you, Nanay. Mahal na mahal ka namin.”

Former child star Niño Muhlach also posted a farewell message with a simple caption: “Paalam, Nanay Lolit Solis.”

Solis began her journalism career as a police reporter in the 1970s before finding her calling in entertainment writing. Despite not finishing her political science degree at UP Diliman, she carved a name for herself with her fearlessness, humor, and intuition.

Later, she became one of the most trusted managers of her time, handling the careers of Gabby Concepcion, Rudy Fernandez, Lorna Tolentino, and Bong Revilla, among others.
