ACTOR Romnick Sarmenta said he will not be voting for his fellow celebrities running in the 2025 midterm elections, citing what he sees as an unfair advantage for showbiz personalities in politics.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sarmenta pointed out that fame gives actors an edge over other candidates.
“Di ako naniniwalang dapat tumakbo ang mga sikat. Hindi patas ang laban… lalo na’t pondo ang pangalan. Kilala sila… hindi alam ang pangalan ng kalaban. Kilala sila… oo. Pero hindi ito batayan ng kagalingan sa pagpapaunlad ng bayan,” he said.
The actor also made it clear that he will not be endorsing any candidate.
“Hindi rin ako mageendorso ng kahit na sino. Alam ko kung sino ang mga pinili ko. Wala. Walang artista sa kanila,” he added.
Among the entertainment figures seeking public office in the upcoming elections are Vilma Santos and son Luis Manzano, Philip Salvador, Bong Revilla, his wife Lani Mercado and their son Jolo Revilla, Tito Sotto, Jimmy Bondoc, Willie Revillame, Arjo Atayde, and Isko Moreno.
