Nora Aunor spirit ‘guides’ film shoot for birthday tribute

DIRECTOR Adolf Alix Jr. confirmed that it took only four days to finish shooting the film “Faney,” which features Laurice Guillen, Gina Alajar, Althea Ablan, Roderick Paulate, Perla Bautista, and Bembol Roco.

The shoot began on May 12, coinciding with the barangay elections, and wrapped in time for the May 21 premiere.

The film showing was held as a tribute to National Artist for Film and “Superstar” Nora Aunor’s 72nd birthday.

“Tingin ko ginabayan ng espiritu ni Ate Guy ang shooting namin, kaya natapos namin nang maayos ang pelikula,” said Alix, who has worked with Aunor for years. “Sa tagal naming magkakilala ni Ate Guy, madalas niyang ikuwento sa akin ang kanyang mga fans. Kung minsan may hinahanap siya ng mga fans niya, kaya alam ko po kung gaano niya kamahal ang mga tagahanga niya.”

“Ito pong pelikulang ito tungkol sa kanyang mga fans, sa kanya, at sa pamilyang Pilipino. Dahil kahit naman sino sa atin ay may hinahangaan na artista,” he added.

“Faney” drew longtime Nora Aunor fans to Gateway Cineplex on its premiere day, with some arriving as early as 11 a.m. to secure seats. Among them were elderly fans and even one in a wheelchair who said she had to sneak out just to see the film about her idol’s life.

Many younger fans also came with their parents to watch the film together.

Producer RS Francisco said they are still deciding whether “Faney” will have a regular theatrical run or be released digitally.
