Nadine Samonte defends selling kids’ pre-loved items: ‘We already donated 10 balikbayan boxes’

ACTRESS Nadine Samonte addressed online backlash after she was criticized for selling her children’s pre-loved clothes and shoes instead of donating them to earthquake victims, clarifying that her family had already sent 10 balikbayan boxes of toys to those in need.

The controversy began when Nadine posted her kids’ used items for sale on Instagram last October 12, inviting followers to comment “mine” to purchase them.

While many parents saw it as a practical move, some netizens accused her of being “insensitive” for selling amid ongoing relief drives in Cebu and Davao following recent earthquakes.

The following day, Nadine responded through an Instagram Story, explaining that she and her husband, Richard “Rboy” Chua, had already made several donations.

“Sorry, hindi po sya donation since 10 balikbayan boxes na ang dinonate na po namin na toys sa mga kids na nangangailangan,” she wrote. “This time we will sell clothes and shoes kasi we need also funds noh haha real talk lang.”

Nadine added that the sale was both transparent and practical, as it helped her declutter while generating extra funds for her family.

On October 18, she uploaded another batch of items for sale, reiterating her stance:

“And yes, nakapag-donate na po ako… at nagtatrabaho ako ng maayos dito, hindi po galing sa nakaw.”
