KAPUSO actress Mikee Quintos revealed how criticism over a group project during her college years at UST nearly broke her emotionally.
“Alam mo, nagkaroon ng time na na-bash ako malala eh,” Mikee recalled. She said anonymous posts on a freedom wall accused her of being a burden in group work. “May nag-hate na pabigat daw ako sa group work.”
Mikee admitted the volume of hate was difficult to brush off. “There was so much hate coming towards you, and hindi lahat ’yon maba-bounce off mo. The energy is coming towards you. Ang sakit noon,” she said.
What hurt her more, she shared, was seeing former high school batchmates sharing the posts. “Parang ako, why are you enjoying and seeing me fall like this?” she said.
She also reflected on her strained relationship with some of her college classmates at the time, noting that they did not fully understand the pressure she faced juggling school and work. “Feeling ko nakalimutan ko na ’yung mga kaklase ko sa college. Hindi pa sila nagtatrabaho, tapos hindi nila ma-gets ang pressure na bina-balance ko ang dalawa,” she explained.
Mikee said she realized it was unfair to expect others to understand her situation, especially when show-related commitments like tapings or appearances were seen as trivial. “Fault ko ’yon to expect na gets na nila ’yon,” she admitted.
Mikee has since completed her Architecture degree at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
