PRESIDENT Bongbong Marcos Jr. has called on Filipinos to support the 10 official entries for the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), emphasizing the event’s role in showcasing Filipino talent and storytelling.
“Ang mga magagandang pelikulang kalahok ngayon ng golden year ng MMFF ay siguradong magbibigay ng gintong saya at magiiwan ng mga ginintuang aral (The beautiful films participating in this golden year of MMFF will surely provide golden joy and leave behind golden lessons),” Marcos said in a video message shown in cinemas.
He encouraged families and friends to come together to enjoy the films, saying, “Tangkilikin po natin ang kwentong Pilipino. Suportahan po natin ang Metro Manila Film Festival 2024. Isama ang buong pamilya, buong barkada, at panuorin ang sampung pelikula na handog ng MMFF (Let’s patronize the Filipino story. Let’s support the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024. Bring the whole family, friends, and watch the 10 films featured by MMFF).”
Running from Dec. 25, 2024, to Jan. 7, 2025, the festival features 10 competing entries: And the Breadwinner Is…, Espantaho, Green Bones, Hold Me Close, Isang Himala, My Future You, Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital, The Kingdom, Topakk, and Uninvited.
Marcos also highlighted the holiday season as a time for unity and celebration, saying, “Ngayong kapaskuhan, bibidang muli ang mga kuwento ng ating lahi dito ito sa espesyal na selebrasyon ng ika-50 ng Metro Manila Film Festival, kabahagi na ng ating buhay at kultura bilang Pilipino (This holiday season, the stories of our race will once again be featured in this special celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Metro Manila Film Festival, a part of our lives and culture as Filipinos).”
The MMFF continues to be a vital platform for celebrating Filipino creativity and culture.
