Lotlot de Leon mourns death of Cocoy Laurel: ‘A gift of love for Mom’

ACTRESS Lotlot de Leon paid tribute to veteran stage actor and singer Cocoy Laurel, who passed away on June 14 at the age of 72.

In a heartfelt message posted on the Facebook page managed by her late mother Nora Aunor’s family, Lotlot recalled her final memory of Laurel, whom she fondly called “Tito Cocoy.” She shared how he visited her mother’s wake earlier this year and handed her a painting he made.

“‘Lot, please keep this… I’m giving this to you as a gift. Keep it,’” Laurel told her. “That painting is more than just a piece of art. It’s a symbol of your deep friendship and lasting love for Mom.”

Laurel, born Victor Laurel, was known for his performances in Philippine theater and for being part of the prominent Laurel political clan. His passing was confirmed by his family on Monday through a Facebook post.

“It is with deep affection and grateful faith that we entrust our dear brother, Victor, into the hands of our almighty Lord God, Creator, and Savior,” the Laurel family wrote. “Rest in peace, beloved brother, mentor, maestro, and friend. You will always have a special place in our hearts.”

The cause of death was not disclosed.

Lotlot ended her tribute by thanking Laurel for the kindness and love he had extended to their family over the years.

“You will be missed, Tito Cocoy,” she wrote.
