Lindsay Custodio faces cyber libel filed by husband

FORMER actress and singer Lindsay Custodio is facing a cyber libel case filed by her estranged husband, Frederick Cale.

Custodio appeared before the Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, March 4, for the preliminary investigation.

In his complaint, Cale alleged that Custodio’s statements in a Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph) article published last year were “false and scandalous.”

“The respondent, Lindsay Custodio, committed cyber libel against me when she voluntarily, unlawfully, and feloniously made statements intended to malign my person, character, and honor,” Cale stated.

He was refering to the May 8, 2024, PEP.ph article titled ‘Lindsay Custodio, Traumatized Bride on Wedding Day,’ where Custodio claimed he withdrew her personal and joint funds, including gift checks, to pay for their wedding expenses on May 1, 2022.

Custodio, in an interview with PEP.ph expressed disappointment over the case.

“Nakakalungkot na ganyan po ang ginawa niya. I am very disappointed, pero okay lang po because what I have is the truth,” she told PEP.ph.

She also questioned why the case was filed in Cebu.

“Nagulat po ako… Siyempre, mahirap for me kasi I’m from Manila, and then I had to fly to Cebu,” she said. “Pero I was shocked and disappointed na ganyan ang ginawa niya. Alam naman niya in his heart kung ano yung nangyari talaga.”

Prior to the cyber libel case, Cale also filed a perjury complaint against Custodio, which was dismissed by the Muntinlupa Prosecutor’s Office.

Meanwhile, Custodio previously filed a case against Cale for violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act, but it was dismissed due to lack of jurisdiction.

Custodio was previously married to former Tanauan, Batangas Vice Mayor Julius Caesar Platon II, who died in a car accident in 2018.
