NIC Chien, the child of international singer Lea Salonga, revealed his physical transition on Instagram, sharing a topless photo showcasing the results of his recent top surgery.
Nic posted the photo in time for Transgender Awareness Week and openly discussed his journey, including the challenges of recovery and the impact of the procedure on his mental health.
“Happy Transgender Awareness Week!” he wrote. “Was able to finally get top surgery last September. Been waiting to heal enough to post a nice-looking picture of myself. The healing process was brutal, but worth it.”
He shared that the surgery has significantly eased his gender dysphoria. “Not having to wear a binder, be afraid of judgment, and being able to be shirtless has been one of the most gratifying things ever,” he said.
Nic added that access to gender-affirming care has been life-changing and expressed hope that speaking about his experience would help others understand its importance.
He ended his post by thanking his parents for their support: “Wouldn’t have been able to do all of this without parents’ support. Love you.”
