ACTRESS and host Kim Chiu admitted feeling anxious and fearful for her safety after the plane she was on was forced to return to Manila due to a technical issue shortly after takeoff.
In a social media post, Kim recounted the nerve-wracking experience while en route to Butuan for an out-of-town show.
“Nakaka O to the M to the G moment!!!!! Our plane @flyPAL going to Butuan had to turn back to Manila just 10-15 mins after takeoff due to a technical issue,” she wrote. “Mid-air, I found myself lowkey panicking — my mind racing, even looking for seat 11A. I tried to stay calm, prayed hard, and thankfully, we landed safely. What a morning. Back in Manila.”
Kim said she got nervous after reading too many recent aviation-related news reports. She even searched for seat 11A during the flight, believing it to be the “safest seat” according to information she read online.
She recalled that only minutes after their 5 a.m. takeoff, the pilot announced they had to turn back. “Before that, the crew had been going in and out of the cockpit, which already had me low-key panicking. I tried to calm myself by sleeping it off,” she added.
Kim said she initially hoped to sleep through the flight, but when she woke up and realized they hadn’t made it far, panic started to set in.
“Nagdasal na lang ako nang mahimbing. Wala ka namang ibang magagawa kundi kumapit sa faith mo,” she shared.
Despite her fear, Kim decided to push through with the trip due to a prior commitment.
