TV host-actress Kim Chiu has filed a criminal complaint against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, after uncovering what she described as serious financial discrepancies involving one of their shared business ventures, according to an exclusive report of ABS-CBN News.
Chiu, accompanied by her lawyers Xylene Dolor and Archernar Gregana, personally submitted her complaint, sworn statement, and supporting documents before the Office of the Assistant City Prosecutor in Quezon City.
“Today, nag-file si Kim ng criminal case against Lakambini Chiu,” Dolor told ABS-CBN News. “We filed a criminal complaint for qualified theft. That’s all we can share for now.”
Kim was accompanied by another sister, Twinkle.,
Her legal team declined to identify the business involved, though they hinted that fans may already know which venture she shares with her sister.
Rumors of a rift between the siblings surfaced months earlier, with many speculating the issue stemmed from Kim’s bag business.
Dolor confirmed that the complaint covers financial discrepancies discovered in the current fiscal year, and that Lakambini held a management role in the business.
She also revealed that Kim made multiple attempts to resolve the issue privately. “It has been a very difficult decision for her,” Dolor said. “There were several attempts to reach out.”
In a statement released Monday, Kim said she acted “in the interest of transparency, accountability, and protecting her company,” noting that “substantial amounts” connected to her business assets were missing.
She emphasized that the legal step was necessary to safeguard her employees’ livelihoods and the integrity of what she has built.
