KAPAMILYA superstar Kathryn Bernardo’s latest recognition as Most Influential Celebrity of the Year from the EdukCircle Awards has stirred mixed reactions online, with several netizens questioning the title.
While many fans congratulated the actress, others expressed disbelief, saying the award seemed misplaced.
Critics argued that Bernardo, known for keeping a low profile on political and social issues, was “influential only in the commercial sense.”
“Influential in what aspect?” one Facebook user asked. Another wrote, “Influential na di ginagamit yung influence where it matters.”
Some pointed out that other celebrities like Vice Ganda, Regine Velasquez, or Nadine Lustre would have been more fitting awardees “in all aspects of influence.”
Others, however, defended Bernardo, saying she remains one of the few artists who consistently earns success “kahit walang ginagawang masama.”
“The award seems to recognize her impact on consumer behavior, her ability to influence people to buy products she endorses, not necessarily her influence on national issues,” one commenter observed.
