ACTOR Julian Estrada, son of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, denied claims that he was involved in a fight in Boracay over the weekend, saying the incident was an unprovoked attack.
“To set the record straight… there was no fight. It was an unprovoked attack,” he wrote in an Instagram Story on Sunday.
“Jelo and I were already walking away from a peaceful night, heading home, when one of them walked up, said a few words, and threw the first punch. What followed wasn’t a scuffle—it was a group jumping,” he added.
Julian expressed frustration over how quickly people online made assumptions about the incident.
“Funny how loud people get when they’re hiding behind screens, twisting a story they weren’t even there for. This wasn’t some bar fight. We weren’t looking for trouble, and we sure as hell didn’t start any,” he said.
He urged the public to be more discerning before weighing in on the matter. “Before you speak on someone else’s pain, make sure you know the truth—because what you say says more about you than it ever will about me,” he said.
Earlier, Sen. Estrada confirmed that his son and nephew were assaulted by three men near a hotel at Station 2 in Barangay Balabag, Boracay, early morning of May 24.
The two victims were reportedly walking home from a bar when one of the suspects approached them and punched the younger Estrada without warning. “One of them told my nephew, ‘masyado kang maangas,’ then hit him,” Sen. Estrada told reporters.
He added there had been no confrontation inside the bar and said CCTV footage would confirm this.
The senator’s son sustained an injury in the face and a chipped toenail after being kicked repeatedly on the ground. His nephew, Jelo, suffered an injury to the nose. Both are currently recovering in the hospital.
Sen. Estrada flew to Boracay on the same day of the attack and said formal charges have been filed against the suspects.
