ACTOR Jericho Rosales has been drawing attention not only for his portrayal of former President Manuel L. Quezon in the upcoming film Quezon but also for his statesmanlike demeanor off-screen.
Because of his mature bearing and eloquence, some fans have even urged him to consider entering politics. But Jericho was quick to dismiss the idea.
“The short answer is no,” he said when asked if he planned to run for president. “We just need leaders who really care, genuinely, sincerely. That’s all we need.”
Jericho shared that a recent trip to Tanzania opened his eyes to how compassion can drive genuine leadership. “Everything can be learned. But if caring isn’t in your heart, how can you serve an entire nation?” he said.
He added that his true passion remains in the arts. “Ang pinakamahal ko sa buhay ay ang sining. Paano ko ipagpapalit ang sining sa isang posisyon? Hindi biro ang maging presidente.”
