Iyah Mina to bashers: ‘Hindi ako galit… may karapatan ang lahat magsalita’

SINGER-comedian Iyah Mina clarified that she is not angry at the reactions to her earlier post about being repeatedly addressed as “sir” by a Starbucks worker in Quezon City, saying she only wanted to share her experience and not attack anyone.

In a follow-up message on Facebook, Iyah said she respects the opinion of those commenting on the issue, whether in agreement with her or not.

According to Iyah, her original concern was not about a single slip in pronouns, but the repeated use of “sir” even after she was visibly presenting and identifying as a woman. “Okay lang naman na magkamali ng tawag,” she said. “Pero paulit-ulit talaga yung ‘sir.’ Tapos tinanong mo pa ako ulit kung sir ba o ma’am talaga ba? Kapal ng blush on ko!”

She said she shared the incident because of how it made her feel at that moment.

Iyah also addressed those accusing her of making a big deal out of the situation. She pointed out that many who criticize her online are also the same people who enjoy her performances and content. “PERPEK niyo!”

Despite the online noise, Iyah said she is choosing to focus on staying grounded and grateful.

She signed off on a light note: “Happy Monday!
