FANS of Kim Chiu are urging for heightened security measures for the actress and her on-screen partner, Paulo Avelino, during their mall tour in Cebu City.
Leading the call is a fan named Carlos Miguel, who took to X to request additional security personnel, expressing concerns over Kim’s safety amid the backlash she has received from alleged supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
The controversy stems from Kim’s recent “It’s Showtime” segment, where she used the phrase “dasurv” (deserved), which some DDS supporters misinterpreted as a reference to Duterte’s detention at the ICC in The Hague.
Despite Kim clarifying that she was merely reading from a script and had no political intent, online hate toward her has continued to grow.
Fans fear that Kim and Paulo may face hostility in Cebu, citing past incidents like the throwing of bottled water at celebrities.
“I know Cebuanos love Kimmy and #KimPau. I just hope the security team ensures their safety,” Carlos Miguel wrote.
Meanwhile, KimPau fans in Cebu have vowed to remain vigilant and protect their idols from any potential threats.
