VIRAL singer Elias J TV has denied rumors linking him to his manager, Beverly Labadlabad, following her public feud with his live-in partner Abegail Cariquitan.
In a Facebook post on Monday, July 7, Elias said there’s nothing romantic between him and Beverly, who has been trading online tirades with Abegail, the mother of his child.
Abegail earlier claimed that Elias skipped his birthday and Mother’s Day on May 11 to attend Beverly’s graduation. She said the singer had told her he was paid to make an appearance, but later saw a video of the event that made her feel she “slapped in the face.”
“I cried so much that day. He said he was paid to appear, so I kept quiet for peace. But that video was a slap in the face. I’ve swallowed my pride so many times, but this is too much. I’m tired of being disrespected,” she wrote in a now-viral post.
Beverly lashed back, saying: “A wife has a marriage certificate. You’re just his live-in partner. You get jealous over things you don’t understand in the entertainment industry. I don’t owe you anything.”
Even Elias’ former manager, Eduard Duterte, joined the fray, suggesting that the relationship between Elias and Beverly went beyond professional. “Miss Manager, are you sure it’s just work? You’re the reason all my efforts for the band were wasted… Married or not, Elias is a father—and this mess is breaking his family apart.”
On Monday, Elias issued a public statement where he credited Abegail for standing by him through his struggles and rejected allegations of impropriety with Beverly.
“Since the start of building my career, Abby has always been by my side, even during the times when we had nothing,” Elias said in Bisaya. “We dreamed together, and it will never happen that I alone will enjoy whatever we’ve achieved now.”
“All I’ve ever dreamed of is to have a stable life with my family—together with Abegail and [our child] Apollo.”
He added: “To clarify things—what you’re thinking about me and Ma’am Beverly is wrong. What we have is purely work and nothing else.”
Elias urged his followers to stop fueling the controversy, saying it was hurting his family. “So please, let’s stop spreading those kinds of issues. Thank you so much to all of you, and take care always.”
