KAPAMILYA actor and “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” star Coco Martin has admitted that he can be tough to work with on set and he’s aware of it.
In a vlog interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila, Coco said there are times when his passion for his work leads to heated moments during production.
“Mahirap akong katrabaho. Minsan nagagalit ako talaga. Kahit sa creative meeting,” he said. “Kasi tao ako e, ’di naman ako nagpapakaartista.”
The actor explained that as a young performer starting out among veterans, he had to assert himself to gain respect.
“Kapag hindi ako nagpakita ng tapang… hindi ako rerespetuhin. Kailangan ipakita ko kung ano ang nasa puso ko at isip ko,” he said.
Coco clarified, however, that his co-workers understand his intentions. “Sumisigaw ako in a way na alam ko ’yung posisyon ko, at alam ko kung bakit ko kailangang gawin ’yon. Pero hindi ako sumisigaw para ipahiya ang staff o artista,” he said.
In a separate interview with journalist Karmina Constantino, Coco also said his leadership on set comes from a place of discipline and professionalism.
“Kapag naramdaman ng mga artista na artista ka pa rin, ’yon lang din ang tingin nila sa ’yo. Pero kapag nagsalita ka, rerespetuhin ka,” he said.
