Christine Reyes draws flak for birthday greeting in tribute to Barbie Hsu

ACTRESS Christine Reyes found herself under fire after netizens called out her social media post mourning the passing of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu—while simultaneously greeting herself on her 36th birthday.

On February 5, Reyes took to X to express sadness over the loss of her “childhood favorite.” However, she ended her message with, “Also, happy 36th birthday sa akin ngayong araw na ito,” which many found insensitive.

Her post quickly drew criticism:

“Hanuba, nalito ako kung HAPPY BIRTHDAY ba or REST IN PEACE?

Following the backlash, Reyes deleted her post but clapped back at her critics.

“Maligayang kaarawan sa akin. Yun na lang… oks na!? Kailangan palaging perfect. Bawal magkamali nowadays… Good? Ang daming magagaling sa mundo,” she wrote.
