CONTENT creator Bea Borres addressed criticism she received after a netizen questioned her recent vlog with fellow influencer Zeinab Harake, where they shopped for baby items amounting to more than P300,000.
In a Facebook post, Bea shared a screenshot of the comment, saying she came across it after momentarily returning to social media.
“I deleted my TikTok and IG apps. I only have FB and Threads now and I actually enjoy using Threads because it’s like X but less toxic, pero when I opened it, ito agad yung una kong nakita,” she wrote.
Bea clarified that the vlog was filmed before the onslaught of Typhoon Tino.
She also denied flaunting wealth or being insensitive during a time of disaster. “Hindi naman po ako nagsusumbat, and definitely not nagmamayabang,” she said. “I’ve already donated almost half a million pesos to different disasters that have happened in our country.”
She added that she pays taxes, is continuing her studies, and will soon be a single mother, but still tries to help where she can. “I also pay my taxes. Magiging single mom po ako, pinapaaral ko pa ang sarili ko, but I still do what I can to help with the suffering happening around us,” she wrote.
Bea noted that many content creators also extend help privately, even if audiences only see their spending online. She said her supporters played a large part in her career, and giving back is her way of acknowledging that.
“It’s unfair that some creators are judged when people don’t see their efforts to help,” she said. “I’m sorry if you think that it’s insensitive, but at least hindi kami magnanakaw at hindi kami nagfe-flex ng pera na galing sa nakaw. Magalit po kayo sa corrupt, isa rin kami sa ninanakawan.”
